Life Information Document Tips

  1. Review your most recent tax return and the past year’s bank and credit card statements to get a good idea of income and expenses.
  2. Go through the contacts on your phone to determine who to include here.
  3. You can do it on your own, but it’s easier if you have a family member or friend who will enter the information into the Word document on your computer as you read it to them.
  4. Don’t worry about filling in the fields in order. You can go back later and get the ones you missed.
  5. If you do NOT have an item, such as a life insurance or long-term care policy or a trust, it’s helpful to indicate that, so whoever’s in charge of handling your affairs knows they don’t have to look for it. Ditto a safe deposit box or an outside commercial storage unit.
  6. More tips are in the Life Information Document kit.

Missing Money?

If you’ve ever visited the website https://missingmoney.com/, you’ll see how much money has not been claimed because the rightful owners did not know it existed. I found $700 for my dad from a life insurance policy of a cousin. He had not known he was the beneficiary. There’s a reason this website exists. People die and their heirs are not aware of all their accounts or money owed to them.
