FAQs

Q. If I buy the Home Inventory Kit or the Life Information Document Kit, can I make changes to the document later?

A. Yes, you save it on your personal computer, and you can update it whenever you like (remember to revise the date). I recommend updating it at least once a year.

Q. Can I give copies of the templates and instructions to my other family members or friends?

A. No. Each kit is copyrighted and your purchase price of $30 entitles you to one copy for yourself. Please refer them to my website if they’d like to buy a kit of their own.

Q. Once I have my Home Inventory completed, am I limited in how many copies I can give to family members?

A. You can give them as many copies of your own completed Home Inventory as you want. Most people prefer to provide a PDF file, rather than the actual Word or Excel document. It’s your choice.

Q. I have some things I’d like to add to my Life Information Document, but I don’t see a place for them. How can I add them?

A. If you’re familiar with Word tables, you can easily add rows to any section. You can also delete rows that are not needed. If you don’t know how to do it, you probably know someone who can help you or you can find instructions online. I don’t recommend adding or deleting columns. It could mess up your documents. Make sure you save your document before making changes to rows, just in case.

Q. I have a small business. Could I buy a Home Inventory Kit and use it for my business inventory?

A. Yes, if you mean an inventory of your furniture and equipment. No, if you mean an ongoing inventory of items you produce and sell or buy and re-sell. It’s not designed for that.

Q. I have a small business. Could I buy a Life Information Document Kit and use it for my business information?

A. If you’re a solopreneur or LLC operating as a solopreneur, I suggest including that information in your personal Life Information Document. If you’re a partnership or corporation, I recommend buying a separate Life Information Document Kit and using that, adding appropriate rows for those items pertaining to a multi-person operation.

Q. If I want you to work virtually with me to create my Life Information Document or Home Inventory, how does that work?

A. Email me to set up a phone appointment (no charge) and we can see if that will work for you.
